A professional install is not just about having the right adhesive. It is about the sequence of steps, the timing between them, and the small details — like how thin each adhesive layer should be and exactly when to press the lace — that separate a flawless finish from one that lifts within hours.

What You Need Before You Start

• ANIOR Scalp Protectant
• ANIOR Performance Adhesive
• ANIOR Melt & Seal Spray
• A fine-bristle adhesive brush or clean cotton swab applicator
• A blow dryer (set to medium heat, never high)
• A soft tail comb for baby hair styling
• Edge control or gel (optional, for edge styling)
• Your prepared lace wig (lace pre-cut, knots pre-bleached if desired)

Step-by-Step Installation

Step 1: Cleanse and Prep the Hairline (2–3 minutes)

This step is the foundation of a long-lasting install. Apply a small amount of gentle cleanser or an adhesive prep wipe along the hairline from temple to temple. Remove all oil, product buildup, and moisture. Allow to dry completely before proceeding — even a small amount of residual moisture will reduce bond strength significantly.

Common mistake: Skipping this step or rushing through it. Oil on the skin is the number one reason lace glue fails early.

Step 2: Apply Scalp Protectant (2 minutes)

Dip a cotton swab or use a brush to apply a thin, even layer of ANIOR Scalp Protectant along the prepared hairline. Extend it slightly beyond where your adhesive will go — approximately the width of the adhesive application zone.

Allow the protectant to dry fully. It should feel smooth and slightly tacky to the touch — not wet. This typically takes 60–90 seconds. Do not rush past this step.

Step 3: Apply the First Layer of Adhesive (2 minutes)

Using your adhesive brush, apply a thin, even layer of ANIOR Performance Adhesive along the hairline over the scalp protectant layer. Keep the layer as thin and uniform as possible.

Critical: Thin means thin. A thick layer of adhesive does not bond better — it bonds worse, takes longer to cure, and is significantly harder to remove. Think the thickness of a coat of nail polish.

Allow this layer to become tacky before proceeding. Tacky means it does not transfer to your finger when you lightly touch it, but still has a slight grip. This takes approximately 60–120 seconds depending on humidity.

Step 4: Apply the Second Layer (Optional, for Extended Wear)

For maximum hold — particularly for active wear, extended wear (2+ weeks), or if you live in a humid climate — apply a second thin layer once the first is fully tacky. Allow this second layer to reach the same tacky state before proceeding.

For occasional or short-term wear, a single layer is sufficient.

Step 5: Align and Position the Wig (1–2 minutes)

This step requires precision. Hold the wig at both temples and align the lace hairline with your natural hairline. Work from the center of the forehead outward to both sides. Do not rush this step — once lace touches tacky adhesive, repositioning is difficult.

Tips for clean alignment:

• Use a mirror at eye level — not angled up or down
• Check that the part sits where you want it before pressing
• Align the center of the wig with the center of your forehead first, then move outward

Step 6: Press and Bond (1 minute)

Once aligned, press the lace firmly into the adhesive using your fingertips. Work from the center outward, applying steady, even pressure along the entire hairline. Hold each section for 15–20 seconds before moving to the next.

For the temples and nape area, press firmly and hold slightly longer — these are the areas that tend to lift first if bonding is incomplete.

Step 7: Melt and Seal (3–5 minutes)

Apply ANIOR Melt & Seal Spray lightly along the lace edge — a thin, even mist, not a soak. Using your blow dryer on medium heat (never high), direct heat along the lace edge while pressing with a soft cloth or your fingertips.

The heat activates the melt spray to press the lace flat against the adhesive and skin, eliminating any visible lace edge. Move the dryer continuously — do not hold heat in one spot.

The result should be a lace edge that is invisible under the hair and looks like it is growing directly from your scalp.

Step 8: Allow Full Cure and Style (15–20 minutes)

Allow the adhesive to cure fully before pulling the wig into any style that creates tension on the hairline. Full cure time is approximately 15–20 minutes. During this time, you can begin styling baby hairs and laying edges with edge control.

How to Maintain Your Install

Once your wig is installed:

• Avoid applying oil-based products near the hairline — oils weaken the adhesive bond
• When washing your hair, keep water pressure low at the hairline and pat dry rather than rubbing
• Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase to reduce friction on the lace edge overnight
• If the lace begins to lift at the edges before your full wear period is up, apply a small amount of fresh adhesive under the lifted area, press, and reseal with melt spray
