The questions everyone asks — answered honestly.
Including the ones that are hard to ask out loud.
Getting started
What is a cranial prosthesis?
A cranial prosthesis is the medical term for a wig designed for hair loss from a medical condition or treatment — the term physicians use on prescriptions and insurers use in claims. "Medical wig" means the same thing. Full explanation →
Do I qualify for a medical wig if I don't have cancer?
Yes. Alopecia, thyroid disease, lupus, trichotillomania, medication side effects, and other medical causes of hair loss are all legitimate reasons — medically, emotionally, and for many insurance plans. Find your condition →
When should I get a wig if I'm starting chemo?
Many women choose a piece before treatment begins — it allows matching your current hair and removes one task from a heavy season. But there is no wrong time, and we can move quickly whenever you're ready.
Products & fit
Will it look like a wig?
Our pieces are 100% human hair with HD lace hairlines designed to read as skin. In a private consultation you'll see and touch them before deciding anything — we'd rather show you than promise you.
Can you really match my texture?
Yes — texture matching is one of the eight commitments of The ANIOR Medical Standard™, including 4A–4C coils and curls. ANIOR is a luxury hair house first; texture is our craft, not a checkbox.
What if it doesn't fit or something is wrong?
We operate remake-first: if a piece has a defect, we remake it to standard rather than discounting you into accepting it. Fit adjustments after delivery are part of the service, not a favor.
Insurance & payment
Is a cranial prosthesis covered by insurance?
Many plans consider it with a physician's prescription; some don't; your insurer decides. Every ANIOR prosthesis includes a complete documentation packet (itemized invoice, A9282 code reference, physician letter template, filing checklist). How reimbursement works →
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Often yes, typically with a prescription or Letter of Medical Necessity — confirm with your plan administrator first, as requirements vary.
Consultations & privacy
Does the consultation cost anything?
No — consultations are complimentary, private, and carry no obligation whatsoever. What to expect →
Will you keep my information private?
Yes. Consultations are one-on-one, your details are never shared or sold, packaging is discreet, and we never use health information for marketing.
Care & aftercare
How long will my piece last?
With proper care, quality human-hair prostheses typically serve well for an extended period of daily wear — your specialist will give you honest, specific expectations for your piece and lifestyle at consultation, plus a written care plan at purchase.
What happens after delivery?
We check in at 48 hours, 2 weeks, and 3 months; you'll have care guides, styling support, and a direct line to your specialist. Lifetime Care is the final step of The ANIOR Method™ — not a marketing phrase.
Still have a question?
ANIOR Medical does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Insurance coverage is determined solely by your insurer.
